Payday Plan

The Household Money Plan for Two

Payday Plan

Most budgeting apps sort what already happened. Payday Plan plans what happens next: every bill lined up against the paycheck that covers it, a plan for every dollar, and a decision for every payment a paid-off debt frees up — so it goes to the next debt instead of quietly turning into spending.

The Challenge

Budget Apps Track the Past. Paydays Need a Plan.

Households don’t run on calendar months; they run on paychecks, autopays and a few debts with promo rates that quietly expire. Payday Plan had to answer the questions people actually ask on a Tuesday night — what’s due, what’s paid, and which paycheck covers it — and make sure the money a paid-off debt frees up doesn’t simply disappear.

  • Plan by Paycheck
Bills had to line up against the paycheck that covers them, not just the date they’re due.
  • Freed Payments Vanish
When a debt is paid off, its payment quietly becomes spending unless something asks first.
  • Two People, One Plan
The bills lived in one person’s head; both adults needed the same live plan.
  • Forms Kill the Habit
Typing every bill into a form is the step people stop doing by March.
  • Money Data Is Personal
It had to be private by design: no ads, no selling data, no AI reading your words by default.

The Solution

A Run Sheet for the Month, Built Around Decisions

Services Provided
Toolkit Used

We designed and built Payday Plan end to end — brand, a Laravel API, a Vue application and a fast marketing site with in-depth money guides. The month is a run sheet you tick as bills go out, the plan maps every dollar to a pocket, and the debt runway catches each payment a 0% balance frees up and asks where it should go next.

  • The Month
Every bill on one page, seen by date, by paycheck or by pocket, ticked as it goes out and closed with a month-end recap.
    1. Five views of the same month
    2. Free to spend until the next payday
    3. One-tap ticks and an undo for everything
    4. Month-end recap of estimates vs. actuals
  • Debt Runway & Cascade
Each debt’s balance, rate and payoff month — and when one clears, a decision for its payment before it turns into takeout.
    1. Highest-APR suggestion for every freed payment
    2. 0% promo cliffs flagged before they hit
    3. Debt-free date with and without redirecting
    4. Milestones that make progress visible
  • Just Tell It
Type what changed in plain words — “Netflix is $18 now” — and a built-in reader (no AI) turns it into changes you review.
    1. Plain-English bills, paychecks and changes
    2. Forward bill emails to read the amount due
    3. Nothing saves until someone says yes
    4. Optional read-only bank auto-tick
  • One Plan for Two
Both adults share one household plan, see who ticked what, and get one tidy notice instead of a flood.
    1. Partner invite by email link, no password
    2. Who-changed-what history
    3. Calendar feed and reminders
    4. Fast on phones and desktops

What clients say

Don't just take our word for it.

  • Door Guard engaged Media Lion to bring our website into the 21st Century, and Jeff Seals did not disappoint. After landing a large contract with a Fortune 500 company, we needed an easy-to-use, interactive site that let their sales force create their own quotes and place their own orders — a huge productivity improvement for Door Guard.
